A Beacon of Resilience: St. Joseph's Boxing Club

A Beacon of Resilience looks at the young people who train at St. Joseph's Amateur Boxing Club in Newport, and how they were affected by Covid-19 and the lockdowns. St. Joseph's is a storied boxing club that has created many famous Welsh boxers, including Lee Selby, David "Bomber" Pearce, Gary Buckland and Fred Evans. Part of the Co-POWeR project.

Co-POWeR is a multi-disciplinary research project led by Black female professors from nine U.K. universities, funded by ESRC/UKRI. The researchers explored the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the well-being and resilience of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Families and Communities in the UK.
