The Bronze Men of Cameroon

The Bronze Men of Cameroon is an intimate portrait of a community of bronze artisans in Foumban, the ‘City of Arts’. Bronze casting is a valued cultural heritage of the Bamoun People in the Western Region of Cameroon. The film is about the changing landscape of Bamoun bronze casting; the craftsmen are facing increasing competition from Chinese businesses who buy up large quantities of the raw materials for export. The foundries are closing down, some bronze artists are turning to farming and other trades. Is this the last generation of bronze craftsmen in the Bamoun Kingdom?
